South Asian junior athletic championship – 2018

South Asian junior athletic championship -2018

The recently held South Asian junior athletic championship marked the return of international athletic competitions to our islands as the young athletes did our country proud. The squad for championship was selected using the previously held junior national athletic meet where the top three performers from each event were chosen to represent Sri Lanka, keeping in mind that it is not so easy even to place 3rd at our very own school sports meet. 44 boys and 40 girls were selected to represent Sri Lanka at the S.A.J.A.C. and we are extremely proud and honored to announce that Koshila Amarasinghe after placing 2nd in the junior national’s athletics meet in the under 20 high jump event was part of the Sri Lankan team, which placed overall 2nd at the tournament. Koshila and the participants who was awarded 3rd place both cleared a height of 1.60 meters. Koshila cleared the height in only her third attempt whereas the participant that was awarded 3rd place managed to clear the same height on her second attempt therefore awarding Koshila 4th place. It is a great achievement and accomplishment for her, our school and our country. In the end it is not all about winning or loosing. To have reached the stage of representing Sri Lanka in itself is a story of courage, commitment and hard work. From having practices early in the morning to carrying out duties as a captain with no hindrance to her academic activities to going back for practice, Koshila has been balancing all with dedication and endurance. Honestly we are so proud of you, Koshila for what you have achieved and for what you’ve had to face and overcome to bring glory to our school and country.
