Familian Outreach

With the advent of the recent flooding in many parts of the country, many were greatly affected. The outreach community of Holy Family Convent pulled together and started collecting dry rations and donations. As soon as the announcement was made students and teachers got together and contributed immeasurably.

As soon as the items reached its limits the outreach members took off to Pitabeddara, Matara. The students were guided by Sr.Deepa, Sr.Achala, Mrs.Sandya, Sr.Jessica and Ms.Awanthi. The outreach community was able to supply the donations to seventy five families and were lucky to see the smiles on their faces. They had spent a quality time with the victims and had gotten to know each other well and about the challenges they go through. Afterwards, they visited the victims who were effected from the Morawaka landslide and was able to help twenty five families.

On fifth of July the outreach community started off to the Northern part of the country—Vavuniya and Mullaitivu under the guidance of Sr.Deepa, Sr.Gnanamary, a journalist and a member from the NGO. The aids were supplied to the people who were protesting to get back their lands and to mothers who have lost their children due to war. Ultimately, the long journey was a success.
