An outstanding achievement by our swimmer Jessie Seneviratne

Jessie Seneviratne brings glory to her alma mater once again, as she wins the Under-18 Girls Champion’s Trophy at the 48th MILO Sri Lanka Schools Aquatics Sports Championships 2023 held at Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool Complex.

Jessie has been a specialist in butterfly stroke, and this was even evidenced by her two new meet records at the 48th Sri Lanka Schools’ Aquatic Sports Championships.

Competing in the Under-18 Age Group 50m butterfly stroke, Seneviratne delivered a spectacular performance by setting a new meet record with a remarkable time of 30.25 seconds, taking hold of the gold medal. The previous record of 30.51 seconds has been by Hiruni Perera of Harischandra College Negombo in the 2016.

She also obtained the 100m butterfly gold medal with yet another new meet record with a time of 1:07.54. This exceptional performance covered the prior record of 1:08.64, again established by Hiruni Perera of Harischandra College Negombo in 2016.

It is to be emphasized that only two Sri Lankan swimmers have broken the 30-second barrier in the 50m butterfly in the recent past.

“We warmly congratulate our exceptionally talented swimmer Jessie and wish her all the very best in all her future events.”
