The Annual Inter-House Sports Meet of Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya was held on the 27th of January. The theme for the year was Greek Gods and Goddesses; with Nike as the school mascot. The event commenced at 12 noon with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mr. Arjun Fernando, former tennis player and CEO of DFCC bank.

The parents were already in excitement to watch their children engage in sports activities. As the Olympic torch was lit by the school games captain, Luchini Umayangana, the sports meet of 2017 officially commenced.

The environment was filled with students rushing to their different houses, amidst the hearty cheering to gain a win for their house. With the end of the more serious and important events, the fancy items were next in line. The captains’ and teachers’ relays gave the audience a good laugh. Furthermore, the glamourous performance by the Hewisi band enlightened the mood of the audience.

Finally, the well trained western band led the squads of the five houses; this had brought us to the final and the most critical part of the sports meet- the announcement of the achievements of our sportswomen. The tense atmosphere has brought us to the final announcements for the day; the overall places achieved by the five houses.

Fifth place was occupied by the house which is known for everything else but sports, Sebastian. In fourth place, Ambrose. Third was the green grass Carmel, second was the blazing sun, Suzanne and the first place was once again won by the red heads, Rose De Lima. The blood, sweat and tears of the captains and prefects were ultimately worth it.
