Felicitation for Rev. Sr. Chandani Jayasuriya on her Appointment as

the Provincial of the Holy Family Sisters in Colombo Province

On 29th of September, our dear Past Principal and distinguished Past Familian Rev. Sr. Chandani Jayasuriya was felicitated by the students and the teachers of her alma mater on her appointment as The Provincial of the Holy Family Sisters Colombo Province.

Rev. Sr. Chandani was welcomed by The Principal, Rev. Sr. Superior of the Convent, Principal of the Primary, Deputy and the Vice Principals, Representatives of the Welfare Association, PPA, PTA and the Students of the school. She was led into the school by the Western and the Eastern Bands with the Staff Members, Prefects, Guides, Non-Academic Staff and the Service Staff forming a guard of honour.

The whole school then gathered together for a short prayer service. A special song in Sinhala and Tamil, composed by the students themselves, was sung to invoke blessings on Sr. Chandani’s new role. This was followed by some entertaining performances by the Senior English Choir, The Kandyan Dance Troup, the Bartha dance troupe and the primary students. Thereafter Sr. Chandani was invited to address the gathering.

She spoke about her various experiences, playing different roles at Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, and her joy returning to the school. Her dream and wish, she stated, was to see vocations from amongst the present day Familians.

To end her visit, Sr. Chandani visited a few classrooms and spoke to both Teachers and the Students.

As the Author [Speaker] Billy Cox had said “Leadership is based on relationships built on trust, hope, love and encouragement”, and that is just what was exemplified through the event.

There was a lot of effort on the part of the School’s Administration to ascertain that our dear Sr. Chandani had a wonderful and a heartful experience at her Alma Mater.
