Senior Prefects’ Investiture

Senior Prefects’ Investiture

Monday the 3rd of October marked an important day in the school calendar, as a new batch of Senior School Prefects pledged to serve their alma mater at the Investiture Ceremony held in the school quadrangle.

Present on the occasion was the School Principal Rev. Sr. Ranjanie Silva, Deputy Principal, Vice Principals, Teachers, Students and Parents of the new batch of Prefects.

The theme for the day was “HOPE” and the venue was befittingly decorated to symbolize and emphasize the theme. As such the quadrangle was decorated with butterflies in shades ranging from silver to purple and a special archway was set up comprising a curtain of butterflies from under which the new Prefects entered the quadrangle.

The ceremony began with the outgoing and incoming prefects coming in procession to the quadrangle. The outgoing prefects carried tealight candles in blue painted glass jars which subsequently were handed over to the new prefects symbolizing the handing over of their duty of being the shining lights of the school community.

A Prayer Service thanking the outgoing Prefects and invoking blessings on the new prefects followed. The Prefect badges were then pinned on the new office bearers by the Principal. The outgoing Head Prefect, Deputy Head Prefect, Games Captain, Deputy Games Captain and the House Captains of the 5 Houses then handed over their flags to the respective new office bearers symbolizing the handing over of office.

Thereafter the all-important Pledge of Allegiance was taken by the new batch of Prefects, followed by speeches by the outgoing Head Prefect, Deputy Head Prefect and the new Head Prefect. The Principal then addressed the new Prefects with encouraging and inspiring words after which she named the new team of Teachers in charge of the Prefects.

This ceremony ended with the singing of the School Song and the new Prefects leaving the quadrangle through the butterfly arch:  the 4 Heads and the 5 House captains bearing their flags and the rest carrying their lit candles.

The new Prefects thereafter assembled in the Chapel for some time in personal prayer and to sign their pledges individually which was offered at the Altar in the Chapel.

We extend our heartiest congratulations to the new Prefects body of 2022.
