Welcoming the New Grade 1 students

Holy Family warmly welcomed its new 226 grade one students for the academic year 2017, on the 17th of January. The new Familians were led by the primary band and were accompanied by the grade two students, while the college students gathered around to greet their new sisters.

The new primary school Principal Rev. Sr. Jessica Kulathunga too became a part of our family. The function took place in the school auditorium with the presence of the guest of honor, Rev. Fr. Lakshman Anthony, sectional head of St. Peter’s college Colombo 4. The faces of our sisters were lit with joy and excitement to begin this new chapter of their lives at Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya.

The new Familians were handed a white flower each which symbolizes purity, innocence illuminating their personalities. Furthermore, the occasion consisted of a variety of dances which were performed by the primary students. The girls were then handed over to their class teachers, while the parents stood by teary eyed, watching their girls from a distance.

“Children close their ears for advice and open their eyes for example, so let us lead them with our example”
