A Day to Remember – Familian Fantasy: Walk and Carnival 2025
Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya was abuzz with excitement on Saturday, the 23rd of August. The school grounds transformed into a hive of activity. Excitement brewed in every heart, and the atmosphere within the school was nothing short of electric. After weeks of eager waiting, the much-anticipated Familian Fantasy Walk and Carnival had finally dawned.
This grand celebration was the result of months of meticulous planning and dedication, spearheaded by the dynamic Past Pupils’ Association of HFC. The event brought together the collective strength of the school and its extended family — the Welfare Society, Parent Teacher Association, Association of Past Teachers, and the academic staff.
The day began on a note of grace and unity, with blessings invoked by religious clergy representing all four major religions in Sri Lanka, bringing to mind that Holy Family Convent is, and will always remain, a true community school.
The atmosphere was electric as Rev. Sr. Charitha Thandalge formally declared the walk open. Adding to the atmosphere was the breath taking sight of a drone gliding overhead, proudly carrying the beloved crest of HFC, showering confetti down upon all present.
The walk ended at Henry Pedris Ground, where the Principal, Rev. Sr. Charitha Thandalge, officially declared the carnival open. What followed was an evening brimming with fun, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. Crowds thronged to the thrilling rides and the many game stalls, while the chillingly popular Horror House staged by the boys of STC added its own flavour of excitement.
In the end, the Familian Fantasy Walk and Carnival was more than just a successful event — it was a resounding celebration of heritage, unity, and joy. It was a day that will undoubtedly take its place as a golden chapter in the history of this Grand Old Lady by the Sea, now standing tall at 122 years, continuing her legacy of shaping lives and nurturing the spirit of generations to come.
