College Library

From the old room behind the Green Hall the College Library was relocated to where it now stands as a state-of-the-art library which is proudly owned by us, the current Familians. At the request of the present students, the staff and the Principal, the PTA undertook the refurbishment of the school library as one of their annual projects.

The newly refurbished library was declared open on the 12th of January 2007 and is now the owner of over 10000 books in Sinhala, English and Tamil languages. It owns not just a wide range of books but now has a collection of DVDs and VCDs of educational value and the complete set of Britannica Encyclopedias. Government and school past paper collection for all grades, annual bank reports and teacher guides are always available at the library as reference material for students and teachers who require them. A collection of magazines from the Time magazine to the Reader’s Digest to the LMD is available for reference. Articles with educational importance from old newspapers are cut out and stored for the use of teachers and students.

With the help of our dedicated librarian Ms Vishnika Premadasa, along with the computerized searching system, the students find it easy to make their choice in books and are given a period of a week to return any borrowed books.

The College Library which is accessed by all college teachers and students from Grade 9 to A/L classes is now completed with the internet facility which can be browsed by purchasing an internet card. Purchasing a photocopy card will let teachers and students take essential photocopies of reference material for their use.

Primary Library

Our school not only owns a good college Library but our Primary students have now become proud owners of a very homely and welcoming Primary Library. This was also a project initiated by the PTA and the library was opened on the 8th of May 2008. This has become a very exciting and welcoming place for our younger Familians to be in.
Our Primary librarian makes sure that the Primary students grow to love reading. The Grade 1 and Grade 2 students get a story-telling hour where they listen to a interesting story being read out to them with lots of animation. Grade 3 to 8 students who also access this library are allowed to borrow a book each week.

Students and Past Pupils can now extend a helping hand by bringing used books which are in a good condition to be shared with current and future generations of Familians by handing them over to the library.
